This role will manage all day-to-day site activities, coordinate and supervise an internal team of site supervisors and engineers as well as subcontractors and key suppliers.
Reporting directly to the senior management, the Construction Manager will be empowered to organise the distribution of all manpower and materials, hire resources and specialised equipment in order to meet the construction schedule and progress requirements, whilst keeping an eye on the project budgets. The Construction Manager maintains the overall quality of works and ensure that the Company’s health & safety (H&S) policies are being implemented and followed at all times.
The Construction Manager will be directly involved in the planning of the works and will be accountable for meeting the project targets and deadlines.
Duties and responsibilities
•Provide clear and unambiguous direction and leadership to the entire site team including trade subcontractors
•Plan, coordinate, monitor and manage the daily activities including logistics, material supplies, resource planning, work sequencing, testing and inspections, housekeeping, waste management and H&S
•Act as the primary point of contact on-site for all subcontractors and client vendors as well as the landlord and/or client’s representative
•Ensure that the clients’ rules and regulations are complied with fully
•Coordinate with the commercial team to ensure that variations, project changes and contract changes are captured
•Analyse the bill of quantities (BOQ) and issued for construction (IFC) drawings to make sure that the scope of work is clearly defined and any scope gaps are identified
•Make sure that the materials being used conforms with the specification and approved submissions
•Identify potential clashes of works and trades in order to resolve any conflicts and provide solutions on-site. If unable to do so, immediately bring the issue to the project manager’s attention
•Ensure quality inspections are being executed correctly and any rectifications are handled swiftly and effectively
•Drive full cooperation with H&S officers to ensure that H&S procedures are being followed at all times to maintain safe working conditions for the welfare of the workers
•Attend and potentially lead site progress meetings with various stakeholders, including clients, consultants and client representatives
•Provide input to regular ‘management reports’ as required
•Control the entire testing and commissioning stages as well as the rectification of defects
•Schedule the project close out and handover
