Job Purpose
Reporting directly to the Head of Legal, the contract manager s task is to ensure consistent management of commercial contracts. This generally includes oversight of the contract management process, as well as development of specific standards for contract negotiations and document management. The contract manager s role in the contract development process requires close collaboration with various business areas, including legal, project management, procurement, and finance.
Key Responsibilities
Job Specific Responsibilities
Working directly with Head of Legal, oversee organizational contract development and management activities and enforce applicable business policies and procedures.
Maintain and update contract automation system (Thomson Reuters Contract Express) and standard form contracts under Head of Legal supervision.
Conduct contract strategy meetings to identify business requirements, facilitate pricing, timeline and deliverable discussions and obtain necessary stakeholder inputs.
Working closely with procurement team, you will primarily be involved with supply agreements including goods, services, IT Equipment, SaaS, consultancy and resource supply.
Preparation and negotiation of commercial and legal terms using Alef Education s standard form contracts and, in certain circumstances, supplier standard forms.
Develop and execute negotiation strategies and serve as primary organizational contact during contract negotiations.
Work with project management team to ensure contracts are adhered to and that the business enforce liquidated damages and other contractual rights to ensure delivery quality and cost savings, and identify any potential contract breaches or conflicts.
Create and maintain a contract management system for all contract records and manage renewals with relevant business areas.
Ensure contractual risk is covered under business insurance policies liaising with insurance broker where necessary.
Education, Experience and Required Skills
Educational Qualification
Bachelor s degree in business, law or other relevant field from reputable university.
Experience
3 years prior work experience in a contract management role.
Experience in developing and applying processes and procedures for negotiations and drafting of contracts.
Experience developing and using contract automation tools such as Contract Express.
Essential Skills
Attention to detail is crucial.
Excellent negotiation and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations.
Ability to analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions and implement appropriate solutions.
Strong English verbal and written skills (Arabic language advantageous).
Strong legal and commercial awareness.
