Your day to day
The Director of Conference & Event will assist in providing day-to-day leadership to the Eventteam in delivering the guest experience from event planning, to handlingcustomer requirements during meetings, to post-event follow-up with customers. Thisrole also involves working closely with Field Sales Team to develop expertisein understanding sectorial/customer needs and event details, and the managementof the Events team in their daily tasks. Develop deep understanding and knowledge of key sectors targeted by hotel and ensure products and services are ahead of competition to maximise guest satisfaction Provide creative input into Meetings Product Development to maintain a point of differentiation by developing innovative product and revenue opportunities Prepare Weekly Events Forecast and guide the team for upselling opportunities Ensure the timely follow-up and pursuit of strategic relationships with customers and stakeholders in order to drive the highest levels of conversion Ensure timely delivery of Master Invoice to customers and help with facilitating payment Support the completion of forecasts, plans, and productivity reports for management Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and up sell products and services while minimising waste to increase revenue Negotiate food and beverage prices, function space, and hotel services within approved departmental booking guidelines Direct day to day conference/convention activities, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for team members Provide effective leadership to events teams, including the ability to direct activities according to the relevant detailed SOPs Team up with counterpart Field Sales Team to deliver sector/customer specific services when needed Enhance team performance through effective communication and coordination with other departments. Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on guest volume. Develop and sustain effective relationships with clients, maximizing satisfaction and on-sell opportunities Communicate to his/her superior any issues encountered and other relevant information Organise training sessions, daily briefings and other meetings as required Conduct periodic formal reviews with the Event team on their targets and goals Conduct Annual Performance reviews, set Key Performance Objectives and Personal Development plans in line with IHG standards and brand standards for each member of the team Through the regular reviews with team members assess performance in line with metrics and expectations from IHG and the hotel and take action as appropriate Act as escalation point for clients and members of the Event Team when issues are not solved at a proper level
What we need from you
The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality, leadership and working in a large hotel with multiple revenue streams. You will have demonstrated capability in influencing and impacting business strategy and also have strong financial, analytical and business acumen partnered with and understanding of industry dynamics and trends. You will be a change agent with the ability to work alongside a team and collaborate with key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Strategic thinking and the ability to explore new ways of working and be open minded on how we can drive the Resort forward will be highly advantageous. Demonstrated ability to work with guests and champion a brand is also a must.
