Role Summary:
Work out job estimates in the most realistic, accurate and competitive way for the submission of quotations and tenders on enquiries received.
Role description
•Use the knowledge on material, processing methods and labor components in an effective way for effective estimation process.
•Should study tender documents, bill of quantity and drawings and estimate the cost of items and check the contractual conditions, logistical (transport) as well as site set up requirements/prelims.
•On receiving enquiries, establish suitability within the business and complete the necessary data bases in line with QA procedures with guidance from Line Manager.
•Ability to independently follow up and raise RFIs and queries with the client/consultant and take feedbacks and clarifications and thereby increasing the price accuracy.
•Liaise with the manager to develop the overall strategy for the tender, and to visit the site/store when required to assess the site conditions and requirements.
•Send out enquiries to suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure their best quotes for materials and work rates while assessing their capability and efficiency.
•Quantity take-off from drawings. Measuring and counting materials and quantity usage as well as assessing the wastages of materials involved.
•Liaising and taking support from other individuals/departments in the organization to produce programs and quality submissions where required as dictated by the enquiry/RFQ.
•Analyze the various supplier quotes and best rates/costs and review their terms and conditions and negotiate for the best prices.
•Prepare tender analysis information & present in a professional fashion for both internal analysis as well as for presentation to client where required, by considering manufacturing cost, transportation, site organization and installation cost and/or any other costs involved.
•Independently arrive at all basic costs with sufficient details to enable contract and tender review.
•Discuss with manager the overheads and mark-ups to reach the final selling prices before submission.
•Ensure the tender summary sheet is signed off in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures.
•Monitor the tenders/quotations and attend meetings with the clients as and when required.
•Review the enquiry in detail i.e. conditions of contract. Specification, drawings, bill of quantities etc., to identify opportunities, risks, strategic matters and pricing policy.
•Attend hand-over meetings between the Estimating Dept. and the Operational and Commercial Teams. Prepare and pass on sufficient information to the relevant setting out as well as project teams to take the project forward.
