GIS Cartographer

Position : GIS Cartographer
Location : Dubai, UAE
Type : Full time
Carry out research and then decide on what should appear on a map
Design maps, graphics, illustrations and layouts
Communicate information through the use of colour, symbols and style
Compile and produce graphs on maps and page layout
Research, analyze, select and evaluate map source data for use in the preparation or revision of maps and charts to various scales
Liaise with clients about their requirements and with data custodians regarding the supply of information
Work with imageries from Satellites and Arial photography and adjust their display according to business needs
Review existing 3D symbols and adjust existing scenes as per industry best practices
Generalize map data to allow for a reduction in scale (derived mapping)
Check the content and accuracy of maps, charts and printing proofs.
Degree in spatial science, geography, geology or computer science
Post graduate degree in GIS ,remote sensing or photogrammetry will be a plus
Prior knowledge about WaterElectricity Network components
Experience in producing maps for utilities in both 2D and 3D
A keen eye for detail as much of the work involves careful research and the collection and manipulation of data
An eye for layout and design, good spatial awareness and color vision
Experience in Map production using ESRI software, mainly ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcGIS Pro
Deep knowledge about data classification and map generalization
Good knowledge about map layout and experience in creating map books and atlases.
