Instrument Technician /

FUNCTIONS:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLCs, SCADA and DCS systems used in water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Calibrate and Maintain process analyzers (pH, conductivity, turbidity, chlorine, ORP, DO etc.) to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Service and troubleshoot instrument air systems, actuators, control valves, and pneumatic/electronic instruments.
• Install, test, and calibrate flow, pressure, temperature, and level transmitters using certified calibration equipment.
• Conduct loop checks, functional testing, and commissioning of instrumentation systems during projects or upgrades.
• Maintain accurate documentation of calibration records, maintenance logs, and compliance reports.
• Support root cause analysis for instrument equipment failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist electrical and mechanical teams during integrated maintenance activities to ensure the system reliability.
• Provide technical input on safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements for instrumentation systems.
• Participate in emergency response and troubleshooting to restore operations safely and quickly.
• Monitor and optimize chemical dosing systems and ensure accurate measurement for compliance.
• Perform vibration analysis and condition monitoring for instrumentation-related rotating equipment.
• Ensure cybersecurity compliance for SCADA and instrumentation networks.
• Integrate IoT sensors for real time monitoring of water quality and equipment performance.
• Implement predictive maintenance strategies using data analytics and condition monitoring tools.
• Collaborate on automation upgrades to enhance process control and reduce manual intervention.
• Assist in remote monitoring and diagnostics on advanced instrumentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor/Plant Manager/Maintenance Manager and work within the Maintenance Department.
• Maintain safe work practices and proactively identify hazards in instrumentation systems.
• Keep up to date with latest instrumentation technologies, calibration standards, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, mechanical, electrical) to ensure plant reliability.
• Ensure proper use and care of tools, test equipment, and calibration instruments.
• Conduct risk assessment before starting any job.
• Report unsafe conditions and near misses immediately.
• Ensure LOTO procedures are followed during any maintenance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process optimization and cost-effective solutions.
• Uphold professional ethics, teamwork, and communication standards in all activities.
• Performs all duties according to Company Policies and Procedures

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:

• Higher diploma or bachelor's degree in instrumentation engineering.

PROFESSIONAL EXPE:

• 2 years experience in the Instrumentation area or related field.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

• Analyzing of technical data, designs, or specifications.
• Reading and understanding P&ID schematics and technical drawings.
• Calibration & Maintenance of all kinds of instruments.
• Usage of variety of tools and instrumentation and calibration equipment.
