Lab Engineer in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
The Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department invites applications for a Lab Engineer position in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering programs to begin in Fall 2021. Candidates are expected to have a Bachelor s Degree in Chemical Engineering with a Minor in Petroleum Engineering. The applicant must demonstrate experience with operation and maintenance of instrumentation and general laboratory operations, including safety standards and laboratory management. The successful candidate is expected to assist with the day-to-day operation and coordination of the laboratories under the supervision of the Faculty and the Chair of the Department.

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide lab support for a range of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering courses at various levels to ensure that instructional delivery complies with the quality and educational standards of the department/program
Ensure the preparation of the laboratory so that classes can operate efficiently, effectively and safely
Maintain accurate and timely student records
Assist in writing lab manuals, procedures, and safety instructions in coordination with the course instructor and/or Department Chair
Ensure that all equipment is maintained, serviced, and repaired as required
Maintain inventories and current and future stock requirements of equipment and consumables
Identify requirements and equipment specifications and assist with the procurement process for supplies and major equipment
Coordinate with suppliers to obtain quotations and follow up with the office of Procurement & Auxiliary Services
Ensure accurate completion of documentation, records and reports
Report to the Lead Faculty Member responsible for labs in the areas of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Petroleum Engineering from an accredited institution of higher education -- A Master s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering along with experience in operating one or more analytical instruments (e.g., chromatography, diffraction, PVT cell) would be an advantage
A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience
Experience in educational lab supervision at a top-ranked university, preferably including the use of instructional technology
