POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Firefighter is responsible for responding to emergencies during designated and assigned Emergency Response shift of a 24/7 Fire Station in accordance with the performance work statement. Functional work includes, but is not limited to, providing guidance to Firefighters, responding to emergency calls, investigating fires, training personnel, and completing required reports to assure the daily operational effectiveness of the department. The qualified candidate shall report to the Assistant Chief of Operations and work with a team of fire services support personnel.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Responsible for responding to emergencies as a Lead Firefighter and ensure the team adheres to NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling, NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes and the AFI 32-2001 Fire Prevention Program.
Responsible for communicating and upholding company standards, leading by example, and working as a team to provide guidance to firefighters and support personnel.
Completes required reports and documentation as outlined in the performance work statement.
Ensure the maintainence of vehicles, equipment, tools, and protective clothing in a serviceable ready-response condition.
Operates pumps, foam generators, boom and ground sweeps nozzles, and other similar equipment as needed.
Uses a variety of special protective gear in situations where poisonous gases, radioactive materials, and hazardous biological products are involved.
Exercises caution to avoid team and personal injury and property damage.
Protect and preserve evidence indicating incident cause for investigation.
Implements and follows operational policy, procedures and assists in the development of contingency plans.
Responsible for following a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with Vectrus, OSHA and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
Responsible for following a comprehensive, flexible, and properly documented training program.
Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere, free of dust, clutter and trash in all working facilities and areas.
Responsible for proper utilization and safeguarding of all government and contractor provided property (e.g., to include government facilities, equipment and tools).
Responsible for precise execution of company time reporting procedures and accurate completion of timesheet.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Fire fighting apparatus, tools, ladders, equipment, and systems.
Personal computer, printer, calculator, FAX machine, copy machine and other general office equipment. Operates specialized fire vehicles/equipment.. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wear of hard hats, gloves, steel toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses and other personal protection equipment (PPE); may be required to push, pull and lift heavy equipment. Use of portable or vehicle equipped radios to maintain contact and accountability of work activities.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be indoors and outdoors. Exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, chemicals may occur. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions. Task specific work environment training will be provided as required. Must be prepared to function in a wartime environment to support U. S. interests. 100% Overseas Assignment.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Physical requirements include lifting up to 35lb, team lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting, or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending. Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required
