Responsible for the overall management and organization of the Cardio-Respiratory Department. Directs, develops, implements and updates internal standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Assure quality care services, staff competencies and privileges are appropriate and maintained.
Education / Qualification Required:
• Bachelor s Degree or diploma leading to registry in a related clinical field AND Master's in related clinical degree or in Healthcare field or management or administration field AND Registered Respiratory Therapist from recognized professional credentialing agency (National Board for Respiratory Therapy or Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists)
• Must have current standing with BLS, ACLS &/or PALS relevant to area of specialty
Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years clinical experience with at least 5 years of management experience in a hospital of at least 200 beds. Prior experience managing clinical operations for at least 3 of the following 5 areas: Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Function Lab, Cardiac Cath Lab, Non-Invasive Cardiac Diagnostic Lab, Neuro-Diagnostic Lab
License:
• Current and clean medical license to practice in country/state of origin
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the management and daily operations of at least three of the following areas: Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Function Laboratory, Sleep Laboratory, Neurodiagnostics and Cardiology Services.
• Approves, develops and conducts Clinical Competencies.
• Approval of employee Performance Appraisals.
• Develops and revises policy and procedure guidelines following evidenced-based medical standards.
• Ensuring the stock control and the ordering of all consumable and capital equipment.
• Establishes clear lines of responsibility and accountability within the department.
• May assume any other additional responsibilities as designated by the Director of Clinical Services.
• Being able to balance team, patient related and professional activities in accordance with departmental requirements, and undertake prioritization of referrals and waiting list management
• Working with and lead the team to provide an efficient and effective service and to be involved in the proposal/development and implementation of department policies and the annual business plan
• Representing the service and/or individual patients at a multi-disciplinary level to ensure delivery of coordinated multi-disciplinary service.This will include discussion of patient progress and management
• Applying advanced practical and theoretical knowledge to perform, analyze and interpret technical information to a high degree of competence to write detailed, high quality clinical reports

• Provide a service for respiratory, neurodiagnostics, pulmonary function laboratory and cardiology services. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department. A major commitment to in-patient care including intensive care unit, wards, emergency department, pulmonary function laboratory, sleep Laboratory and cardiology services.
• Develop a strategic vision for the section/department and produce a report for the facility on the service developments and future plans
• Managing the team including objective setting, appraisals, training, annual leave, supervision and reflective practice
• Actively involved in the planning, forecasting and facilitation of service developments, including the formulation of appropriate policies and procedures
• Being responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of the team on a daily basis, their clinical practice and record keeping
• Deputizing whenever necessary, taking responsibility for operational management of the department, allocating and organizing the work of professional and assistant staff to meet service priorities on a daily basis
• Ensuring that all staff are aware of policies and procedures and are working within them. Develop and review all documentation regularly
• Managing the performance of self and others within the neurodiagnostics, cardiology and respiratory team with developmental action plans/goals
• Completing and maintaining all regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames
• Working on planning the future finances and resources. Manage a delegated budget
• Managing the income and expenditure systems of their delegated service including ensuring activity is recorded and that robust systems are in place to control day to day expenditure. Act as an authorized signatory
• Being involved in the development and implementation of cost improvement schemes through service redesign, cash releasing schemes and income generation and ensure that service delivery is managed within financial and budgetary constraints

• Ensuring that all equipment defects, accidents and complaints are reported immediately to ensure that appropriate action may be taken in line with facility health and safety policies
• Enforcing compliance with all safety regulation in manipulating equipment
• May be required to rotate through shifts and on-call from time to time to cover vacations and other periods of shortages of staff.
• Oversees and directs all educational activities offered within or outside the department. In charge of all department quality assurance and quality improvement projects and activities.
• Insures that the department meets the standards set forth by Tawam Hospital, SEHA, HAAD, JCIA and Johns Hopkins Medicine International.
• Ensures a safe work environment is maintained for staff and patients.
• Being responsible for the safe and competent use of all section/department equipment and patient appliances and aids used by patients; to ensure that junior staff, senior staff and assistants attain all required competency prior to use
• Remains current on any advances in clinical or managerial Respiratory, Pulmonary Function Technology, Sleep laboratory, Neurophysiology and Cardiology practice.
• Enforcing compliance with all infection control regulations and policies when dealing with equipment and patients
• Complying consistently with facility policies, procedures and practices and ensuring alignment with SEHA facilities policies
• Completing and maintaining regulatory requirements including: licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames
• Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchanged or received in the current capacity of role in accordance with facility policy
• Assuming the role of a brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders
• Maintaining positive and effective working relationships within the department/division and also with other departments/sections within the facility
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned relevant to the basic responsibilities of the role
• Adhering to requirements of the Occupational Health and safety guidelines and infection control guidelines
• Understanding and adhering to emergency preparedness plans/policies
• Ensuring Personal Effectiveness
• Recognizing the necessity of continuously developing skills and acquiring additional knowledge appropriate to the position
• Dressing appropriately to meet the expectations of the specific work area and in alignment with the Occupational Health and Safety policies
• Building key partnerships within the organization for pursuing client-centered, comprehensive, integrated systems of care
• Complying with any regulations related to mentoring, training and development of UAE nationals staff
