6.1. Administers patient care as assigned by the Nursing Director.
6.2. Assists the physician with the care of the patient, and with documentation when required.
6.3. Prioritise patients according to status and clinical need.
6.4. Maintain safety of the patients at all times.
6.5. Perform assessment in focused and timely manner.
6.6. Report any significant findings during assessment to the physician.
6.7. Obtain and document consent, as applicable.
6.8. Administer medications and ordered by the physician, and observe the patient in the treatment room.
6.9. Assist with the health education of patients or families.
6.10. Coordinate with doctors to follow up on the clinical condition and progress of patients.
6.11. Maintain accurate nursing records of patients.
6.12. Monitor inventory and maintain established supply levels
6.13. Ensure a clean, safe and functional working environment in the nursing areas.
6.14. Protect the privacy and confidentiality of the patient.
6.15. Report nursing concerns to the Nursing Director.
6.16. Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies when carrying out duties. Use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and safety systems.
6.17. Anticipate patient needs and respond to patient requests.
6.18. Ensure that all medical and emergency equipment is kept in a safe condition and is ready for use when required, and that faulty equipment is reported to the Nursing Director and/or replaced as necessary.
6.19. Attend and contribute to staff/team meetings.
6.20. Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process:
6.20.1. Decontamination;
6.20.2. Preparation, packaging, sterilization;
6.20.3. Documentation of sterilization; and
6.20.4. Sterile storage including remediation of sterilization failures
6.21. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) tasks:
6.21.1. Comply with reasonable OHS instructions and safe working procedures
6.21.2. Take reasonable care of their own health and safety, and the health and safety of those affected by their actions
6.21.3. Use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and safety systems
6.21.4. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
6.21.5. Not wilfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety
6.21.6. Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
6.21.7. Report OHS hazards, incidents and issues
6.21.8. Report to their supervisor any situation which they believe could present a hazard and which they cannot correct themselves
