What is the one important reason for professionals switching jobs? Better pay checks. Not always. Taking up a new job for the first time, many job seekers consider salary as the reason for joining. But as we spend years working and start shaping our professional selves, just high compensation is not enough.

Naukrigulf conducted a poll and asked its readers-

Besides compensation, what is the single most important priority you’d place on choosing a job?

The options-

* Opportunities for promotion/ career advancement

* Job security; stable company; no layoffs

* Work/life balance; decent hours & schedule

* Enjoying the work you do every day

The NG Career Cafe Poll results made it clear that the top priority in choosing a job is career advancement.  Out of the total number of votes received for this question, 34.5% search for a new job for career advancement.  Opportunities for career growth and higher designation are the main reasons for a job change.  A good number of Naukrigulf Career Cafe readers also preferred a job change for the love of work.  Out of the total number of responses received, 25.2% are in favor of “Enjoying the work you do every day”. The other two options – Job security and Work/Life Balance received 25.2 % and 19.8 % votes respectively.  The NG Careercafe poll was conducted from August 2013 to June 2014.
