EWEC drives the planning and forecasting, purchase and supply of water and electricity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and beyond. EWEC aims to optimise the cost of these utilities by increasingly relying on renewable power, while also diversifying power generation sources to include solar and nuclear to bring clean electricity to the country’s energy grid. EWEC performs its role as the sole procurer of water and electricity to drive the short and long-term balancing of supply and demand and partners with world-class developers to ensure sustainability through long-term purchase agreements, and bulk supply tariff sales agreements with distribution companies. While ensuring supply security, EWEC also seeks to contribute to the UAE Energy Strategy 2050's goal of expanding the total energy mix to 50 percent by increasing clean electricity, while reducing the carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent.
