5.1 BASIC FUNCTIONS: • Provides or assists with general basic and advanced life support emergencies to patients who are critically ill or injured and transfers them to other health care facilities with other medical team members, and assumes responsibilities for the operation and maintenance of equipment/ consumables of the ambulance to ensure readiness at all times. • The Paramedic is a critical role within the Dubai Corporate Ambulance Service, responsible for providing high-quality pre-hospital emergency medical care to patients in various settings. The Paramedic will work as part of a dynamic team, responding to emergency calls, assessing patient conditions, and delivering appropriate medical interventions..
5.2. SCOPE: • Provide high-quality pre-hospital advanced life support including assessment, triage, and treatment additional comprehensive patient assessment & invasive care as per the DCAS policies, procedures & clinical practice guidelines. • Work is performed on any shift, as required. • Hours are as assigned and may include on-call. 6. PRINCIPLE DUTIES • Demonstrates and ensures knowledge, understanding and compliance with Dubai ambulance policies and procedures • Ensures that the ambulance and equipment are ready for use at the beginning of the shift and after every call. • This includes appropriate cleaning and disinfecting of the interior and exterior of the ambulance. Checklist of the ambulance and equipment and coordinate with the transport team to ensure routine maintenance. • Performs daily inspections of ambulance consumables checklist. Arrange housekeeping to clean the vehicle • Responds to emergencies and nonemergency’s using appropriate care and caution in line with Dubai cooperation of ambulance service regulations • Renders emergencies and nonemergency medical care in accordance with DCAS policies. • Safely transfer patients onto and lift and carry stretcher in the ambulance • Act at all times in the best interest of high-quality patient care in the best interest of the patient • Act at all time with his/her personal safety in mind as well as the safety of his/her partner • If collecting patient from other health care facility, paramedic is responsible for contacting that facility to ensure that all medical information is updated and that collection time and date are agreed • Under the duty manager's instruction appropriate medical escort is arranged if required • Accompanies patients to their destination continuing to provide appropriate care and patient advocacy until the responsibility for the patient has been transferred to an appropriate medical professional and a report has been given. • Co-signs all patient's care forms for completeness • Complete all appropriate documentation and record-keeping for every assignment • Obtain complete and updated medical information for all clients transported • Adheres to infection control practice all the time • When necessary and appropriate act as team leader in dealing with emergencies • Monitor and ensure the ambulance has a current DCAS license to operate
