Scope of the role:

The role holder is responsible for overseeing and leading all key operational and commercial functions of the Oman branch, including Warehouse Operations, Transport & Distribution, Client Management, Clearance & Forwarding coordination (where applicable), and Business Development. This role ensures operational excellence, service quality, cost control, compliance with Oman regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement across all areas of the branch. The Business Manager – Oman will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive performance, customer satisfaction, and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

 

·         Strategic Leadership & Performance Management

  • Develop and implement branch-level operational and commercial strategies aligned with company vision and client expectations

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance service delivery.

  • Monitor and manage branch budgets, P&L performance, and key cost lines.

  • Serve as the escalation point for all branch operations and customer-related issues.

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate cross-functional teams ensuring accountability, productivity, and professional development.

  • Foster a culture of safety, integrity, innovation, and customer‑centricity within the branch.

 

·         Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee warehouse operations related to multi‑client or dedicated contracts ensuring optimal storage utilization and inventory accuracy.

  • Implement best practices in receiving, picking, packing, dispatch, and VAS operations.

  • Monitor warehouse KPIs including inventory accuracy, picking accuracy, order turnaround time, and space utilization.

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, QHSE guidelines, and industry standards.

  • Lead warehouse supervisors/managers to ensure operational discipline and continuous improvement.

 

·         Client Retention & Growth

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and service consistency.

  • Conduct regular client reviews to evaluate operational performance, SLAs, and improvement plans.

  • Identify growth opportunities including upselling, cross-selling, and expansion of value‑added services.

  • Work with the Commercial team to respond to RFQs, tenders, and pricing proposals.

  • Ensure delivery service meets or exceeds contractual and SLAs for all clients.

 

·         Clearance & Forwarding

  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies ensuring timely movement of goods.

  • Ensure compliance with Oman customs regulations, HS codes, and international trade requirements.

  • Support escalation management for custom-related issues affecting service timelines.

  • Implement and monitor C&F‑related KPIs and documentation accuracy.

  • Drive digital initiatives to streamline clearance processes and improve visibility.

 

·         Transport & Distribution

  • Manage branch transportation activities including last‑mile deliveries, regional distribution, and fleet management.

  • Develop optimized routing plans ensuring cost‑effective and timely deliveries.

  • Lead contract negotiations with transport vendors ensuring competitive rates and service levels.

  • Monitor transport KPIs such as OTD (On‑Time Delivery), vehicle utilization, and cost per trip.

  • Ensure full compliance with Oman road transport regulations and driver safety standards.

 

·         Facility (Plant) & Maintenance

  • Ensure smooth functioning of warehouse infrastructure, utilities, MHE, and IT systems.

  • Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs with vendor partners.

  • Ensure safety standards and EHS regulations are strictly followed within the facility.

  • Drive sustainability and energy‑efficiency initiatives at branch level.

  • Lead workplace safety initiatives with QHSE lead and ensure full compliance with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) regulations.

 

·         Project Management

  • Lead new project implementation including new client onboarding, process improvements, warehouse expansions, and technology rollouts.

  • Develop project plans, resource allocation models, risk assessments, and timelines.

  • Monitor project progress ensuring timely and quality delivery within budget.

  • Coordinate cross‑functionally with Finance, HR, IT, and Commercial teams.

  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and post‑implementation evaluation.

Note: Any other related duties/projects assigned by direct line manager / department manager from time to time that align with team business objectives.

The right person:

Required Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Education:

  • Master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field)

  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or relevant certifications are advantageous.

  • Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or 3PL operations.

  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role with multi-functional responsibility.

  • Hands-on experience managing large-scale warehouse networks, transport fleets, and customs operations.

  • Proven experience in leading complex logistics projects including automation and infrastructure expansion.

  • Demonstrated success in project management, operational efficiency, and cost optimization initiatives.

  • Prior exposure to the UAE/GCC logistics market is mandatory.

  • Knowledge & Skills:

  • Deep understanding of 3PL operations, supply chain processes, warehousing standards, and logistics trends.

  • Strong working knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), TMS (Transport Management Systems), and ERP platforms.

  • Knowledge of customs clearance, international shipping, INCOTERMS, and compliance protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse data, derive insights, and make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of reporting tools (MS Excel, Power BI), warehouse automation technologies.
