Scenario #1: The position is no longer relevant or has been put on hold
Tip: There are times when recruiters/hiring managers have to cancel an interview for a reason that has nothing to do with a candidate’s abilities, qualifications or experience. Sometimes the organizations decide to hire internally for a particular position. Sometimes it also happens that the management decides to dissolve certain vacant positions because they no longer find them to be relevant. In such cases, it is best to convey the same to the candidates in a timely manner.
Scenario #2: The position has been filled
Tip: In case of bulk hiring, recruiters/hiring managers may have to schedule interviews with candidates for a couple of days. It often happens that they find their ideal candidates on the first day itself. In such cases, it is best to simply inform the remaining candidates that they won’t be taking interviews further as the position has been filled.
