Engineering Manager

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To establish engineering capability to support and complement the main contracting business and manage the day to day organisation of the engineering Department, co-ordinating activities of direct resources, Subcontractors, Suppliers in an appropriate way with, Safety, Health and Environmental Quality objectives as the priority.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Decision Making Authority

• Day to day decision making required in relation to the project from study the design of awarded projects, preparation of technical submittals, NOC, shop drawings and as built.

Operational Responsibilities

• Assist the estimation team during tendering stage.
• Study the design drawing of the awarded project and preparation of shop drawings and technical submittals.
• Prepare combined drawings for all services to study the clash analysis and to notify the Engineer for any design issue
• Identify the scope of work and prepare shop drawings, and material submittal logs.
• Quantification of scope of work and identification of long lead items to avoid project delay.
• Preparation and submission of NOCs in RTA and DEWA Portal.
• Ensure the constructability of the prepared shop drawings in connection of the safety and site condition.
• Ensure that all technical submittal and shop drawings are submitted as per baseline programme.
• Guide draftsmen, monitor their performance, ensure all the shop drawing submittals are prepared as per the project standard. coordination with Authorities such as RTA, DEWD, DM, and etc , for approval of NOC, shop drawings, material submittals, etc.
• coordination with the designer and the client representatives for technical related issues
• coordination with suppliers and subcontractors and to ensure that all material comply with the project standards.
• Notify project manager and contract manager for any design issue that have impact on the cost and project duration.
• Attend progress meetings with the client and the Engineer representatives.
• Preparation of As Built drawings as per the Authorities standard and ensure smooth handing over of the project.
• Maintain good relationships with clients, the Engineer and authorities.

HR Responsibilities

• Organise resources QA/QC team, draftsman, and subcontractors to maximise financial returns and improve the efficiency, with full coordination with the site team, procurement and contract department.

Commercial Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain good with Consultants, Authorities, client relationships and monitor and maintain quality of works.

• Maintain & follow legal and local requirements.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities

• Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
• Follow project wise specification and terms.
