Role Purpose:

The Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the Outside Sales Engineers by managing customer inquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders, managing walk in customer sales, perform basic parts logistics and processing through the CRM and ERP system. The Sales Engineer ensures efficient sales operations, fosters customer satisfaction, and contributes to overall business growth.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Upon receiving customer inquiries, promptly acknowledge receipt and provide updates on progress.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive quotations, including technical specifications, pricing, and delivery terms.
  • Collaborate closely with the assigned Outside Sales Engineer to ensure that prepared quotations accurately reflect the specific needs of their customer and align with company policies.
  • Provide additional support to the outside sales engineer in achieving the sales targets by:
  • Offering technical expertise and advice on product selection
  • Identifying new business opportunities within the customer account
  • Providing backup support during customer visits and presentations, if needed
  • Proactively follow up on submitted quotations to address customer queries and concerns and convert them to orders.
  • Process purchase orders efficiently and maintain regular communication with stakeholders to update them on order status.
  • Maintain and update the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system with relevant customer information and interactions.
  • Monitor and track invoices, ensuring their timely submission to relevant customers and resolving any billing discrepancies.
  • Utilize sales tracking tools effectively to analyse and report on relevant information and trends to support decision-making.
  • Provide technical assistance and resolve customer issues promptly to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, offering support and input to contribute to the growth and success of the team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills, engaging with customers via email, phone, and in-person interactions to address inquiries and build relationships.
  • Take initiative to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, demonstrating proactive time management skills.

Qualification Required:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or related field.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in sales roles within the marine industry.
  • Proven track record of success in sales or engineering positions.
  • Track record in managing client relationships and driving upsell/cross-sell opportunities.
  • Knowledge in CRM, sales reporting
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
