Education

  • University or Bachelor s Degree in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or any other relevant field with three years of relevant professional experience from an accredited academic institution.

  • High school degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.

  • Professional accreditation from a recognized psychological or counselling association-society is advantageous.

Experience

  • At least two years experience in MHPSS programming.

  • Proven work experience as a Child Psychologist or similar role.

  • Knowledge of different therapeutic methods and the ability to switch between different approaches to meet each child s needs.

  • Excellent knowledge and skills in MHPSS programming, resilience, psychosocial support, community-based activities, development and mobilization, especially in an emergency context.

  • Experience working with at-risk community members.

  • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and stakeholders, working in international organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization.

Skills/strong>

  • Must be approachable and empathic so children will be comfortable working with you.

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.

  • Proficient in a Microsoft Office environment and office software packages; Data entry (database management) skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare clear and concise formal correspondence and project reports.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural setting;

  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.

  1. Provide admin and clerical support to qualified technicians when conducting psychological assessments and/or tests for diagnostic purposes for children.

  2. Assist qualified technicians in designing and conducting relevant socio-relational, sports and play, creative and arts-based activities for children and adolescents of different age and gender groups, in coordination with the MHPSS and Community Mobilisation Expert.

  3. Participate in training family members on how to assist their child in a supportive manner.

  4. Assist in the coordinations between other child health experts, like child protection workers, pediatricians and community engagement staff, Qatar Red Crecent (QRC) volunteers , who facilitate and support the children s psychological development.

  5. Assist in the organization of educational programs and training sessions to inform adolescents or teenagers about the repercussions of high-risk behaviors and ways to adjust to them.

  6. Provide admin and clerical support to MHPSS services when addressing issues such as depression, bullying, various mental health issues and learning difficulties in children.

  7. Maintain files with complete documentation and records of assessments and treatments according to in-house policies.

  8. Assist qualified technicians to identify and refer children in need of specialized attention to a children psychiatrist.

  9. Assist in reporting all services provided in SYNC; including follow-up and new cases, as well as visibility materials of all MHPSS activities conducted at CAS.

  10. Assist to organize capacity building activities for IOM staff, CAS focal points, QRC and Community volunteers on Children psychosocial support related issues through workshops and trainings.

  11. Promote and maintain confidentiality and the right to privacy is maintained regarding beneficiary and project information.

  12. Help in the continuous monitoring and evaluation of the programme.

  13. Provide admin and clerical assistance to other healthcare providers when evaluating the medical & physical condition of children at CAS.

  14. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
