Migration Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Execute migration and commissioning activities for IP Backbone and Core Network nodes as per approved Method of Procedures (MOPs).
• Perform router, switch, and firewall configurations including routing, MPLS, QoS, and VRF setups.
• Support cutover activities and live migration execution under the supervision of the Migration Lead.
• Conduct pre-migration checks, ensuring all dependencies and readiness criteria are met.
• Carry out post-migration validation, verifying service reachability, routing correctness, and redundancy functionality.
• Perform end-to-end service testing for EPC (MME, SGW, PGW), 5GC (UPF/SMF/AMF), IMS, PCRF/PCF, AAA, WiFi Calling, and enterprise VPNs.
• Monitor network behavior and troubleshoot real-time issues during and after migration.
• Document all configuration changes, test results, and observations accurately in migration logs.
• Coordinate with NOC, Core, Transport, and Security teams to resolve faults and validate service recovery.
• Assist in preparing and validating MOPs, rollback plans, and configuration templates.
• Participate in post-migration reviews, sharing lessons learned and recommendations for process improvement.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in IP network implementation, operations, or migration within telecom environments.
• Practical experience in mobile core transport connectivity and service validation.
• Proven hands-on experience in configuring and operating IP and Mobile Core network elements.
• Solid understanding of: Routing protocols: OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, L3VPN/L2VPN, and traffic engineering concepts
• Sound knowledge of Mobile Core Network elements: EPC (MME, SGW, PGW), 5GC (UPF, SMF, AMF), IMS, PCRF/PCF, AAA, WiFi Calling, Firewall and security interfaces related to IP transport and Core integration
• Skilled in CLI configuration, network troubleshooting, and packet analysis using tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, and SNMP utilities.
• Experience with network testing and validation, including latency, throughput, and failover verification.
• Familiarity with change management and rollback procedures in live network environments.
