Key Responsibilities

1. Metallurgical & Material Testing

• Conduct chemical analysis of molten metal and cast samples using spectrometer.

• Perform mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, impact where applicable).

• Verify microstructure (nodularity, graphite shape, matrix structure) for ductile iron.

• Prepare and polish samples for metallographic examination.

  2. Process Quality Control (LFC-Specific)

• Monitor and test foam pattern properties (density, coating thickness, permeability).

• Check coating slurry parameters (viscosity, solid content, drying quality).

• Inspect sand quality (moisture, grain size, compaction).

• Support quality checks during pouring, cooling, and shakeout stages.

  3. Dimensional & Visual Inspection

• Conduct visual inspection of castings for defects (porosity, misrun, burn-on, erosion).

• Perform dimensional inspection using gauges, calipers, micrometers, and CMM (if available).

• Identify and report casting defects specific to Lost Foam Casting.

  4. Documentation & Reporting

• Record test results in quality logs, inspection reports, and control charts.

• Maintain traceability of heats, batches, and test samples.

• Assist in the preparation of inspection certificates, test reports, and customer documentation.

• Support internal and external audits (ISO, SASO, customer audits).

  5. Calibration & Lab Maintenance

• Ensure calibration and proper functioning of laboratory instruments.

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the quality laboratory.

• Follow laboratory SOPs, safety rules, and chemical handling procedures.

  6. Continuous Improvement & Support

• Assist QA team in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Support trials, process optimization, and new product development.

• Communicate non-conformities to production and metallurgical teams.
