Sr. Rigging Supervisor ASRY ARAB SHIPBUILDING & REPAIR YARD CO. )ASRY

Directly supervises the day-to-day activities of Maneuvering and Rigging Section inside and outside the Yard, particularly the rigging and transporting of materials, equipment, etc.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive instruction from Section Head, Department Head regarding workload, requests, priorities etc.
• Supervise and coordinates activities of workers engaged in all rigging and lifting activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures and method statements. Familiar with heavy lift plans and procedures.
• Distributes the equipment to staff according to priority work schedules and requirements of the other Sections.
• Assists with the set-up of Crane.
• Directs crane operators to move equipment to and from work areas.
• Arranges equipment and provides assistance during docking / undocking or mooring of vessels.
• Assist and determines the proper method of lifting equipment for each assigned project.
• Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project.
• Ensures that Riggers are properly supplied with tools, equipment, and materials. Prevents the misuse of equipment, materials & tools.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow procedures. Competent in reading and understanding specifications, drawings and other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
• Specifies locations for movement of machinery using knowledge of various methods of sliding and lifting equipment.
• Directs workers engaged in splicing ropes and metal cables to form hoisting slings.
• Ensures that Graving Dock and Floating Docks are clear from all rigging equipment/s for docking / undocking operations.
• Initiates / issues maintenance/repair requests to responsible Section and follow up.
• Controls and instruct Riggers by using walkie-talkie.
• Assess/evaluates the Riggers daily check list to ensure safety and reliability.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
