MAG is seeking an experienced and highly skilled WAM Technical Lead to oversee the implementation and technical delivery of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) activities across Lebanon and Jordan. This role is central to strengthening national capacity in ammunition safety and stockpile management and ensure that all technical activities are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with MAG s operational standards and international technical guidance.
The WAM Technical Lead will coordinate and provide technical oversight for WAM projects and activities within the countries of operation, ensuring full compliance with MAG Standard Operating Procedures as well as relevant international frameworks such as the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG) and the Modular Small Arms Control Implementation Compendium (MOSAIC). A core component of the role will be the planning, management, and delivery of three International Ammunition Technical Courses, two in Lebanon and one in Jordan. These courses are designed to strengthen national capability in ammunition management, covering the full lifecycle management of ammunition and explosives from storage and inspection to risk reduction and disposal.
The position will also support the development and drafting of national Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) and Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM) standards. Working closely with national authorities and programme leadership, the role will help align national systems with the best international practice while ensuring the standards remain practical and relevant to the operational context.
Working closely with the Country Director, Regional WAM Operations Manager, and Senior Technical Advisor, the WAM Technical Lead will support the overall safe execution of MAG s technical activities in the region. This includes contributing to programme design, providing technical input to proposals and reports, advising on operational risk management, and ensuring the safe handling and storage of technical materials and equipment.
The role will also focus strongly on training, mentoring, and capacity development. You will work directly with national government counterparts, MAG technical staff, and partners to build technical capability in ammunition stockpile management, SALW control, and related safety practices. Through mentoring and structured training delivery, the role will contribute to long-term institutional strengthening within partner organisations.
In addition, the WAM Technical Lead will represent MAG with donors, implementing partners, and national authorities where required, ensuring effective coordination and communication across stakeholders. This role also contributes to internal technical learning and knowledge sharing through participation in MAG s WAM Community of Practice.
الملف الشخصي المطلوب للمرشحين
You are a highly experienced technical professional with a strong background in weapons and ammunition management, preferably within humanitarian, defence, or security sector environments. You hold a recognised AT or ATO qualification in accordance with IATG 01/90 and have demonstrable experience delivering International Ammunition Technical Courses or equivalent technical training programmes.
You will also hold an IMAS Level 3+ qualification with practical experience in logistic disposals, including large-scale disposals and the disposal of guided weapons and missiles. You possess deep technical knowledge of WAM operations and are confident in applying international frameworks such as IATG and MOSAIC in operational settings.
You bring experience managing and providing technical oversight for WAM projects or operations, including planning and coordinating activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting the effective delivery of programme objectives.
