Year 2 Class Teacher & Head of Year 2

Dove Green Private School

We are seeking an outstanding Year 2 Class Teacher and Head of Year 2 who models excellent classroom practice while driving consistency, wellbeing and high expectations across the year group. Protected leadership time is provided weekly for key HOY tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Core Teaching (Class Teacher)

• Plan and deliver engaging, well-sequenced KS1 lessons with effective personalisation for learning.
• Use assessment (formative/summative) to adapt teaching; secure strong progress in early reading, writing and maths.
• Create a calm, purposeful classroom with clear routines and high behaviour expectations aligned to the 3Rs.
• Build positive relationships with parents; provide clear feedback and regular updates on learning.

Head of Year 2 (Leadership)

• Lead the Y2 team: set shared routines and expectations; run focused year-group meetings (planning, assessment, moderation).
• Track attainment, progress and attendance; coordinate timely support with Inclusion and SLT.
• Champion consistent behaviour systems and restorative approaches; monitor and follow up swiftly.
• Oversee year-group operations (events, trips, communications) to a high standard.
• Contribute to staff development through coaching-style feedback and sharing effective practice.

Experience & Qualifications:

• QTS and strong recent KS1 experience.
• Proven impact on pupil progress and behaviour; confident using data to inform teaching.
• Collaborative, calm and solutions-focused; excellent communication with pupils, staff and parents.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and ongoing professional learning.
