Mechanical Technician – Feed Mill SHARJAH AGRICULTURAL AND LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION EST (EKTIFA)

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the mechanical reliability and physical upkeep of all feed production machinery. This role involves heavy-duty millwright work, precision alignment, and troubleshooting of high-torque systems (Hammer Mills and Pellet Presses) to ensure consistent throughput and minimize physical equipment failure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Milling Equipment Maintenance

• Pellet Mill Services: Perform routine replacement of dies and rollers on CPM, Bühler, or Mecafa presses. Adjust roller-to-die clearances for optimal pellet quality.

• Grinding Systems: Inspect and replace hammers (beaters), screens, and pins in Hammer Mills. Ensure rotor balance to prevent vibration damage.

• Mixer Maintenance: Maintain high-capacity batch mixers, inspecting paddles, ribbons, and discharge gates for wear or leakage.

2. Bulk Material Handling & Conveying

• Conveyor Systems: Repair and tension bucket elevators, drag conveyors, and screw augers. Replace worn flighting, buckets, and belts.

• Pneumatics & Hydraulics: Service pneumatic "airlocks," slide gates, and diverter valves. Maintain bag filter houses and dust aspiration ducting to prevent dust buildup.

• Transmission Systems: Conduct oil changes, seal replacements, and internal inspections on heavy-duty gearboxes.

3. Precision & Reliability

• Alignment: Perform laser or dial indicator alignments on direct-coupled motors and gearboxes to extend bearing life.

• Lubrication: Execute the mill-wide lubrication program, ensuring all high-speed bearings are greased according to manufacturer specs.

• Condition Monitoring: Conduct visual and auditory inspections for abnormal vibrations or heat in rotating equipment.

4. Utilities & Safety

• Boiler & Steam: Maintain the mechanical aspects of the steam conditioning system, including steam traps, valves, and manifold piping.

• Dust Control: Ensure all enclosures are dust-tight to mitigate explosion risks.

• Welding & Fabrication: Perform basic MIG/TIG or Stick welding for minor structural repairs and chute patching.
